Fabrice, after all we've been through, the ups, downs, and plateaus...this is how you repay me? By causing this mockery of a forum set-up? I feel so betrayed...

Re: Show yourself, scoundrel! -- Fabricious, 15:39:48 April 06 2003, Sunday
Hello there, other Factitious.net aficionados.
A few days ago I asked Ben to try out a different Forum format so that all the posts for a given topic could be outlined at once. Sorry, it wasn't out of diabolical malevolence or even divine arbitrariness. I just have a relatively slow modem, and I'd appreciate not having to wait a minute every time I load an unrelated advertisement and a kilobyte's worth of actual forum text, one fragment of the discussion at a time. Evidently most other folks don't much favor this new-fangled contextualization; I must say it's not precisely what I thought it would be either. If Factitious decides to switch it back to the old format on a whim or for the vocal majority's sake, that's fine by me...though the comments about "mere idiot[s]" and "sub-human bottom-feeders" seemed sort of unnecessary and might've hurt my feelings had the poster known me in person. And that's kind of a shame, because we seem to hold the same sorts of prominent figures in esteem. At any rate, it's good to read from you all every now and then.
Peace out and about.
P.S. I think the fabric softener brand's name is supposed to sound like a combination of fabric and breeze. Its designers were possibly trying to incorporate February or febrifuge into the mix while they were at it. My name has been around for just a bit longer, from the latin faber. By the way, Maryna, is your name Polish?

Re: Show yourself, scou- whoops, I mean Fabrice -- Maryna, 20:51:48 April 06 2003, Sunday
Well, Fabrice, obviously the insults didn't really apply to you, as your reasons for preferring the noveau-forum were modem issues and not simply because you couldn't figure the old system out. But if you couldn't, that's ok, too. I'm friends with a lot of sub-human bottom-feeders, you know, some of my schoolmates want to go into law! Besides, taking potshots at people is fun. You should try it. You've been way too polite so far.
I'm amused that you correctly pinpointed my polish origins. I'm guessing that your name comes from the latin "Faber".
Oh, I am so good.
Your revolutionary tendencies are noted with glee. If I could change the forum, I'd add a "preview" button, in the case that I am ever intent upon using complicated html or ascii. Factitious, you hear that?

Yep, that's Fabrice.
Is there an option where the default view of the forum is as the old way, but when you clicked on a thread, it showed all of the messages associated with that thread? I think that would be the ideal solution, edging out even the previous setup.

I realize that this is exactly what Albert said, but I maintain that he stole my thunder by being online way too much.
For as long as I have known Fabrice, he has been polite. So much, in fact, that it makes him appear vaguely alien at times. Maybe this is just because of the setting I grew up in (largely my brother's fault), and in any case, being polite is in no way a bad thing.
So yeah, polite (almost overly so) has been a very good description of Fabrice. Of course, it doesn't encompass his sometimes bizarre sense of humor, his spontaneous bouts bardic knowledge (that's a D&D reference, folks), or his tendency to make me want to say "That there's a decent feller. He's strange, but he ain't half bad".
Okay, so I've never really been overcome with the urge to say that. I can just picture someone else (a southern hick someone else) saying that, though.

Accentuate the Positive -- Fabricious, 04:14:35 April 07 2003, Monday
"That there's a decent feller. He's strange, but he ain't half bad."
Likewise, Mike, He of the Musical Maestro-Punk and Archmagic-Funk, likewise. Maryna and Albert, your forum format plans sound sound. Glad to open a friendly line of communication with a quasi-friend of a quasi-friend of Ben's...Talk about a friendly neighborhood forum. Y'all are real cordial folks when it comes down to it, I believe. Keep it real, yon fellow Factitious Forum-goers. Perhaps I just misused "yon," but hey, I couldn't resist the transitional property of it. Now, that was impolite to the English language.

If it makes you feel any better, try to think of it as you doing your part to keep the English language evolving, and therefore alive. You're doing it for its own good.

No! This politeness has got to stop! Yet... I can't bring myself to insult the polite one... so I think I'll just take it out on Albert and Mike. Yeah, those guys sure did suck last night. They just plain sucked! I've seen people suck before, but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.

eh, fuck you too, Maryna. And I mean that in the friendliest possible way. Well, the friendliest non-suggestive one. ;-)

Nice use of the Simpsons. And, actually, one of my bigger problems revolve around that fact that I am NOT sucking.
Eh, yeah. Er. I'm gonna go something constructive now.

Tsk tsk. Horniness is deadly to grammar, my dear. Plus, it makes baby jesus cry! Don't come back until you've calmed yourself down... solely for the integrity of the forum, of course.

And you, my dear, don't even need horniness to have bad grammar.

I've calmed down. It makes baby Jesus cry? Good to know, good to know...
