That doesn't necessarily answer Ben's question. Was he actually tried for simply eating a dead body, or was it just a particularly gruesome murder trial?

Why "dead"? Isn't it still cannibalism if you eat, say, someone's arm and they remain alive?

Well, if that was the case, it would be at least some kind of assault, in which case the queston of whether the cannibalism was a crime is not necessarily resolved.

At the moment that you actually bite into the arm, it's battery rather than assault.

Again, that's really besides the point. Which was the guy actually charged with: cannibalism, or assault/battery/murder/other-non-cannibalism-crimes. I guess they're not mutually exclusive, but still.

The guy was actually tried on cannabilism. One of the only ones to be tried on that particular charge.

I say, when you guys visit, we should try to find some human meat. It could be a whole new kind of thanksgiving: "I'm thankful that I'm not the one being eaten". Awwwww.

Human meat is sadly difficult to find, although it might be possible to locate some sort of novelty food called soylent green.
I've always wondered what humans would taste like. Would the different races taste differently? Would babies be like veal?

I've been told that the fleshy part of the palm just below the thumb is the really good bit.

I wonder if Mike thinks we don't know that he rips off all his lines from Calvin and Hobbes? :P

Okay, first of all, it's what all great artists do. They rip off the very best. Second of all, yes, much of my daily speech is borrowed from various witty resources. I'm just that kind of guy. Third of all, believe it or not, I wasn't SPECIFICALLY quoting Calvin and Hobbess, to my knowledge at the time. I was mostly thinking of a discussion I had with my brother. But, assuming (which, if I recall, is pretty likely) that I did mostly rip off Calvin and Hobbess, I apologize for not giving quotations.
Anyway, I think the babies as veal line was prefaced by talk about specific body parts being represented in a similar fashion to the legs and wings of a chicken, not about whether latinos taste different than asians.
