I remember Fr. McCarthy well and the old wooden church. I have been left a box of old photos which include a number of Fr Mac plus photos of what look like the laying of the foundation stone for the new big church(which has now been replaced by a much smaller one) Haven't lived in Speke for years but am interested in keeping in touch with what's going on.Not sure where in Ireland he was from but will look to see if there's a clue in the photo box.

I too went to St Christopher's and remember Fr McCarthy in the wooden church. I think he may have come from Wicklow but not sure. There are some old photos in a box I have which show what I think is the laying of the foundation stone of the big church or possibly the first Mass in the uncompleted new church with Fr Mac. Don't know if there's any other info on him. I think he was in Holy Trinity Garston before he came to Speke.
