Subject: safety and security at home

Has anyone read the editorials in the standard examiner lately? Paticulaly on May 28, 2003. If not, maybe you should. Are we really safe in our city? Or is it a matter of who you know? If my son were shot at, I wouldn't rest until something were done about it. For whatever reason the mother in the story doesn't see any hope, probably because it's been so long. I feel that this should be of grave concern to all of us as parents. Are we waiting for this to happen to another kid? Why isn't the family in this story worth helping? Who decides that type of thing? Police, The Council, The Mayor, Who? Whoever it is , shame on you for passing judgement? What makes you worthy? I feel that our entire community has let this family down. This should not be ignored. We shouldn't be afaid to speak out and maybe help someone in the process.
