What is your definition of promiscuous? Why would you label Rene as one? Is wanting to have sex with someone mean that the person is promiscous? And why is it assumed that when a woman intiates sex, some of us are quick to draw to that conclusion? Could Gallimiard be the promiscious one? I mean, he cannot decide on anything, or let alone, he does not know what he wants and he spent his time waffling his way between Song and Rene. If you have forgotten it was Song who gave Gallimard confidence, that he had enough nerve to have an affair with Rene. For your last statement, I don't think Gallimard could get a woman if he so desired. From reading the play, Gallimard is the type of person who probably lacked confidence. He was not an attractive man and in the play, there wasn't really any indication that he was very social with women that he can approach them and perhaps even have something with them. It was Song who gave him confidence, and in both cases, it was the women who approached him. So if on one hand, we are saying he is confident and he couldn't intiate the affair with Rene had she not asked him if he wanted to fool around with her, then how can you conclude that he is confident?

Also, it made
>Gallimard less desperate, it showed the reader that he
