I do agree with Jen that the majority of the interview with David Henry Hwang did not say much of anything. However I did find some points interesting, especially when he mentioned his idea of writing a play about a Chinese Mafia in which he was worried about the reactions of some the Chinese ethnic community.His thoughts are parallel to that of viewers and non-viewers of HBO's The Sopranos who are of Italian-American descent. There are those who love it for the family/cultural sector and those who despise because of the stereotype of gangsters it displays. This is not unusual becuase you can never please everyone as a writer, especially when you write what you know and experience because we all experience and interpret life from different perpectives.
