Subject: If we do go for a season 9
In reply to: Faithsguy 's message, "So are we doing at season nine?" on 16:13:44 06/13/03 Fri

Are we going to go for an actual season 9, or are we going to continue from season 7?

I do like the universe we've created and the story we've had this year, but I also think the universe we have limits our fic a bit, because it's not in line with the Buffy universe. I'd hate to just lose the year we've created, but I also think that it's a stretch to keep going with a timeline that's wrong in so many ways.

There is, of course, a way we could have both. We could arrange the finale so that there's a reset to before Storyteller. It's not impossible, our whole season is about time after all.

Anyway, I'll leave this one for the big guns. I just wanted to throw the idea out there.

We've put so much work into this that I think it would be wrong to disregard it.

But we'll sort out things like that once S8 is over! :-)

Please I beg you, I hated the Everyone's A Slayer theme, and I *like* that we don't have it!!! Can we not? Please?!!!

...all the Potentials are "empowered". Because then characters like Xander, Andrew, Dawn etc. become pretty much useless next to a whole posse of Slayers.

We could have something to the effect of:

Because of Proserpexa's followers and the rising of her that it created a time wonkiness or another dimension which totally obliterated the events in chosen.

Perhaps the followers of Proserpexa needed sunnydale there to bring Proserpexa about and they played around with time and brought the town back and just set things in motion from "storyteller" and the first was defeated in another way which did not kill Sunnydale or Spike or Anya....and didnt activate the potentials....

And the only way to fix the time wonkiness is to go back to the way things were, Anya dead, Spike dead, sunnydale gone, potentials activited. Could cause some episode 22 drama this year.

Dont know, just an idea to throw out there.

Personally I think we should just continue it as an AU Fic.

I like "our" Buffyverse. In fact, sometimes I think I like it better than the "real" one - after all, ours is still going on! My personal feeling is that we're starting to build our own, effective, AU continuity and we should probably continue with it :)

wouldnt be hard to do!

Willow could have magically given Xander back his eye

Anya could have survived everything...she could have simple klung onto the bus as it was speeding away.

Spike could have survived becasue of the Amulet or something.

I just think it would be cool if we tied the season seven ending into our fiction so it isnt all that AU.

But I do understand that sometimes it has to be that way so if there is no other way creatively that we can do this, it will be cool.

... the very large hole where Sunnydale used to be. We've set a whole season in a town that doesn't exist any more! The more we go through it, the harder it gets because either we marry up the continuity or we don't; little things, like Xander's eye being magicked back by Willow are easy... we could probably work around that nasty fatal blow the Bringer inflicted on poor Anya, there could easily be some kind of Spike/amulet thing to bring him back... but there's still the question of the town no longer existing and the world being full of recently-empowered Slayers.

We can't really do half a job of the continuity thing, either we have to do it all the way or we probably shouldn't do it at all. But that's not for me to decide, it's something that the group as a whole will need to discuss. I'm just concerned that we'd have to spend several episodes just ironing out the timeline!

i dont know, i just think with our gaining popularity, there has to be some way to tie in old loose ends...

They like it because of what we've done with it - we've ended up with something, that, trusting it prevails to the end, is of a more coherent and logical quality than the ACTUAL SHOW.

which says more about Joss' standards than ours *veg*

I don't think loose ends are an issue. Give a big old 'PRETEND EPS 17-22 of season seven' warning pre every episode, people will stop asking that question, and they'll shut up and read it.

Maybe

Hehe eventually the readers will catch on, and we'll stop seeing those weekly, "How are Anya and Spike still alive? And why is Sunnydale still here?" haha someday!

I'll write the first episode and explain how stuff, happenmaybe a vengene demon could come and ask Xander for a wish or dawn for a wish to explain season 8? it could be a little AU or something right?
