Subject: Ideas for Dawn and general stuff for later eps

Hi all!

Okay, first I want to apologise for not being around. I'm sick at the moment and since I've been off work for a couple of weeks I haven't had a whole pile of net time. But I'm starting to feel better!

Secondly, congratulations. You've all proved yourselves to be incredibly clever sods and have thought up some brilliant storylines. Wish I'd been around to take some of the credit!

Being the massive attention seeker that I am, I couldn't not contribute, so I wanted to throw out one or two ideas of my own.

The first thing I wanted to discuss is Dawn, who thanks to season 7 has become my favourite character after Willow. I've been thinking about how to develop her, and one thing I'd love to explore is her relationship with Tara. Tara was pretty much her surrogate mother after Buffy died, along with Willow, and we haven't really had a chance to see how much she misses her in season 7.

Anyway, Tara was Wiccan, true Wiccan as opposed to Willow who had a totally different approach to magic. My knowledge of Wicca is still pretty limited, but I do know that most Wiccans have a book of shadows.

Yup, it's not just a charmed thing! Anyway, I thought it would be cool if either Dawn finds Tara's book of shadows, and Willow tells her to keep it, or Willow finds it and gives it to Dawn as a present. We could play this any way is most convincing - either that Willow felt the book brings back too many painful memories but doesn't want it to go to waste, or that Dawn becomes more interested in magic (having cast her own spell in CWDP) and Willow wants her to have a better guide so she doesn't make the same mistakes.

If we do go with this we'd have to be careful that Dawn doesn't become a mini-Willow or mimi-Tara, but I think it would be pretty easy to manage. Most Books of Shadows don't just contain spells, they're as individual as the people who write them. So it really could take any direction we want.

Okay, that's idea number one. My second idea is for the later episodes. We're going to have loads of four horsemen, end of the world stuff. I know that one of the things that happens in Revelations is that the dead rise. So I was wondering...wouldn't it be cool if Sunnydale cemetary was emptied in one of the final episodes? As in Tara, Joyce, Jenny Calender, Scott Hope and even Larry, all alive again? Completely alive. Not under outside control. Just...alive. Knowing they're not supposed to be but not knowing why they've suddenly come back. So that the gang get used to having them around, and realise that if they beat the big bad all of them will die again.

It might be a bit too close to the First Evil storyline to make it work, since that one sort of brought back the dead, but I just think that it would be interesting to see how the characters handle it, and would be a great way of getting everyone from all seasons back for the finale. Plus, there's a charcter for all the scoobies - Jenny for Giles, Joyce or Scott Hope for Buffy, Joyce or Cassie for Dawn, Tara for Willow, Larry for Xander, Hallie (not buried, but dead) for Anya, so there's ample room for all kinds of scenes.

If we wanted to *really* push it, we could have *all* the dead in Sunnydale coming back to life...so all the vampires, including Spike, would go back to being human. Until the BB is defeted. If it is.

Anyway, those are some ideas that I had. I haven't had a chance to read all the posts yet, so if my ideas clash with any of the others just ignore them and I'll follow whatever has been decided. What I've read so far is dead cool!

And I can't believe you have me writing the second last episode! Aaaaahhhh! Pressure much?

I was looking for something to do with Willow & Dawn together in my episode, I couldnt think of a good scene for them. And while i wont do the whole "book of shadows" thing (save that for a bigger, Dawn and/or Willow ep, rather than my BB/Anya/Faith centric), your mention of Tara has piqued my interest in writing this scene, where they discuss Tara (or something not-Anya). Thank you!!

Well okay, I'm not. But I did inspire you! Yay me!

A Willow/Dawn scene where they discuss Tara sounds really great. It could make for a really tender, sweet scene. And if we go with my idea for having everyone alive for the final episodes, then it's a good idea to remind our "viewers" of people who have died in the past - Jenny, Tara, Joyce, Larry, Scott, loads of people. The kill count is pretty huge at this stage.

Plus it would be cool to see Willow trying to cope with Warren, and Andrew trying to cope with Jonathan. As well as a human Spike, Harmony, a resurrected (again?) Darla and maybe even...a human Dru?

Also...have any other past slayers ever lived in Sunnydale? Would they be buried nearby? If so, then there could be more than one slayer fighting the BB. And if our slayer is vamped and *all* the vamps become human, then the vamped slayer would be human again, and would have her soul back...which could cause a lovely complication for the final episodes.

Okay, I'm just throwing ideas around at the moment. Everyone feel free to steal these ideas and twist them whatever way you want to for the fic!

[> HI Linda! -- Mark, 23:30:21 03/01/03 Sat

The only problem is that the Four Horsmen are not in the final episodes, only episodes 8-14. The Vamped Slayer calls on them to bring fourth Proserpexa, who is the Big Bad, not the Four Horsemen. They are more of just a way to facilitate the coming of Proserpexa. And her plan is to destroy all of time itself, so even though it is an apoloclyspe, it's really a different direction than the typical "Hell" end of the world, so I don't think the dead angle would work. We're trying to stay away from that and do something different.

But I do like your idea regarding Dawn!

Well, blast!

It's a pity, as I was starting to like that idea. I didn't realise that the four horsemen were used so early on. I'm gonna have to re-read the other posts!

Thanks for letting me know. I may find some way to fit a watered down version in my episode. Maybe if time starts to fall apart because of Persperation... Pyrexa... Perspecsia... Person... the Big Bad, and everyone goes back to a different moment in time or something. Maybe. I'll see how the previous episodes go. Whatever way it does go, it looks like it's going to be great!

[> oh oh oh...!! -- Sgt. Rock, 11:29:35 03/02/03 Sun

I have to write a Willow-centric ep and have been completely stumped for what to write, the whole Willow giving Dawn Tara's book of shadows would be perfect.

Yay you!

[> Recommended reading for the book of shadows thing -- Linda_Delurked *waves to Faithsguy*, 20:07:13 03/02/03 Sun

If people are panicking because they have no idea what's meant to be in a book of shadows (aside from the stuff in Charmed) here are two good books that you may be able to borrow from a local library...

"Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham. This one actually contains Cunningham's own book of shadows, a simple one that can be used for ideas.

"The Wicca Handbook" by Eileen Holland. It contains loads of info on Wicca and magic, and can be used as a reference guide. It's got info on pretty much everything.

Both books have a couple of spells. But to be honest you can find hundreds of real spells on the internet which can be used in the fic if needed. You can probably find a fair few online book of shadows too.

Hi Faithsguy! I'm feeling much better, thanks ;)

[> [> Thats good to hear, That book of shadows thing.... -- Faithsguy, 20:11:44 03/02/03 Sun

Is an awsome Idea, I thoughht that even though Willow was straying from the Wicca I knew that Tara was following the rules, and I actually always wondered what happened to her Book of Shadows.

[> [> [> And knowing Tara, she's probably have references to the others -- Linda_Delurked, 20:31:08 03/02/03 Sun

Tara was a soulful woman, and her book of shadows would probably have been a kind of a diary. She was always the one who thought much more than she spoke.

It'd be nice to see Dawn using the book, and then adding her own information to it as time goes on. Since in season 7 we've had Willow dealing with Tara's loss and moving on, this would be a way to show that Tara's legacy is also continuing, as well as a way of making sure that Dawn follows a wiser path to power. In case her key-ness starts to kick in!

I love the idea, guys I really think we should follow this. Since Amber Benson is guest starring in my episode can I introduce the book?

[> [> [> [> [> [> Yeah, the "spirit guide" version of her anyway -- Faithsguy, 21:53:04 03/02/03 Sun

but she will break the spirit guide role for one second, its hard to notice, but I've wrote it in that she does something to Buffy that a spirit guide wouldnt do...

[> Just to be a deviant and deviate slightly.... -- BunnyPhobia, 15:48:12 03/04/03 Tue

One: Prospexa is all about Time? Are we on about undoing it, or just obliterating it completely? (I'm guessing this leaves no room for the normal 'demons inherit the earth' apocalypsy stuff? Good.) Because if that's the case, we're gonna have to think about how that would start...When does Prospexa get 'free' or whatever it is that she does...Are we going to have 'time' rumbles, things like that?

And the Horsemen? They raise Prospexa? And Amy summons the horsemen? What's Raven doing in all this?...
Not a dig, but its bad when even the co-writers can't make sense of the over-reaching arc *g*. I think we have a few too many characters in this, that's all...

And great to see you posting Linda! Get well soon hun!

[> [> Bunny youre right, i've been doing some thinking and. -- Faithsguy, 16:14:51 03/04/03 Tue

The followers of Proserpexa summon Raven, she comes assuming she can open the hellmouth and release her, she finds that she cannot for some reason or another and summons the horsemen to do the rest of the job.

[> [> [> Are we really sure we want to open the Hellmouth. AGAIN?! :-) -- Kashmanik, 12:23:18 03/05/03 Wed

What if it was something different? Talk of opening the Hellmouth is bandied about so much on the show that it's lost the "big threat" impact that it once had.

I think Proserpexa's objective should be different - perhaps she is what holds time together? And regulates it's flow - she could be the reason time passes differently in different dimensions. But for her true form to live, time must be altered somehow. So for now she's stuck using this snake-woman form until she reaches her goal?

[> [> [> No I dont think the hellmouth should be "opened" -- Faithsguy, 13:19:27 03/05/03 Wed

but the hellmouth is a gateway to hell, where Proserpexa has been. I just think a gateway to the hellmouth should open allowing her to pass through into this dimension.
