Date Posted:17:22:57 02/21/03 Fri Author: Wyvern Subject: Right... I want to start developing my story (as it's in the first half of the season...)
And I don't want to tread on any toes. My thinking is that it is an "even numbered season" and all of these seem to have at leat on high concept episode - something that takes the characters out of their usual place and takes forward the characters rather than the immediate plot. And this is what I want to do.
The characters I've been given to work with are Dawn, Andrew and Kennedy and while they're fun characters, they aren't as developed as the core Scoobies (even Dawn isn't really - she was a glowy key thing, now she's a student and that's about it...). So I want to move them forward by shifting the focus to them totally and effectively making them the "core Scoobies" for this one episode. I haven't figured out how or why it happens yet, but it will basically involve a major personality/behavior shift for ALL of the characters. It won't be an arc story as such, though of course whatever the arc is, there will be elements of it in there. And the humorous events of the episode as the characters find themselves doing things they aren't necessarily equipped for will of course give way to an angsty and traumatic finale *g*
Obviously, I'm not going all out to write it yet, because I'll want to incorporate events from previous episodes, and we haven't got the overall plot finalised yet, but getting the bones of the story worked out is easier done when I have the house to myself, and hubby's away until Monday!
Plus, my original idea involved Tara, but she's already "taken" so I'd rather now do something else as we don't want to overuse her...
So this is me staking (no pun intended)an early claim on this type of story. It leaves all the plot-heavy stuff to those better equipped to write it and leaves me free to do what I do best. However, it's early days yet, so if anyone's really desperate to do this kind of thing then talk to me... but it seems like a good way to use the characters I've been given.
