Dave, I'd have to say that Mutuality, on the ground moment-to-moment is THE practice, the challenge, and the only REAL event. And Global Mutuality starts right at home in my very own Heart, with being able to look any other person in the eye, see Who he or she REALLY is in their human pain and failings as well as their (likely unRealized) transcendent freedom and magnificence. And be willing NOT to close my heart to their righteous-- or deluded-- anger, their unsalveable suffering, their confusion, their narrow belief system. Whatever about them seems too painful to bear, for ME to be required to bear; whatever makes ME want to say, 'Get Awake, get healed, get a clue, disappear-- *I* can't stand your suffering. I don't want to feel you if it hurts this bad.'
Being Awake means losing forever the imaginary immunity from others that had governed our lives. You could say that this terrible event has shoved this country, and the world at large, that much closer to that necessary loss. I didn't want 'my' Process to hurt as much as it did, has, does. But you couldn't trade me a 'get out of Incarnation and go directly to Nirvana' pass for ANY of it. Not even this.
