Paul,

Thank you for the poem. Specifically, the concrete images, the very real, ordinary things I am. It feeds my Heart to know I am not the only One compelled to take responsibility for all that has happened in the last week.

I used to think taking responsibility meant TAKING BLAME. Now, what I know to be true is taking "respons[e]-I-[a]bility" means BEING ABLE TO RESPOND.

Being able to respond and own my sadness, anger, grief and frustration.
Being able to respond to my own incapacity to do something that makes a difference.
Being able to respond to my longing to hold the victims and take away their grief.
Being able to respond to my fear of surrender to the perpetrators of these acts, the fear of including them in my world, the fear of taking responsibilty for my part in creating the hatred and dissociation that would make these acts even thinkable.
Being able to respond to my fear that these events will be used to take away our Freedom by those who have a vested interest in doing so.
Being able to respond to the lack of trust I have in Being.

Being able to respond by holding All of this in my Heart.
To Become it.
