 I guess what I think is that the inquiry is actually preparing the mind to give up its place of primacy and submit itself to Consciousness. It is a lot like a koan....and I remember feeling totally frustrated by that process for a long time. I will have to think more about exactly how "clarifying consciousness" was so important to me..."thinking" in this case is like creating a bowl in my mind that has the shape of that question, and watching it so persistently that something fills it eventually....or,diving into the question, I fill the bowl.
