Yesterday my husband and I went to the Humane Society and brought home a new dog. Wilbur, a dog remembered for his great heart, died about 2 months ago and our other dog, Yoda was lonely when left alone.

Our new dog is a Manchester Terrier and is a perfect match to Yoda who is part terrier also. He doesn't have a name yet, we are waiting for one to arrive. He was a stray, picked up in Prineville, Oregon and after the requisite waiting period was slated to...well you know. Instead they decided to send him to Portland where there was a better chance of adoption. He's quite wonderful and already well loved.

I am amazed at how having this new dog person in my life has mobilized me. I am almost more excited about playing with the dogs, or walking with them than attending to the forum! Now that's something.

Also, Deidra, you might have been heartened to see the number of people at the Humane Society looking for animal friends. The parking lot was completely full. People and dogs on leashes were everywhere. Cats meowing in boxes and children delightfully interacting with it all. Quite wonderful.

Blessings to all, Cassie
