I know we're always decrying the mind, and I'm not expecting anyone to have any answers to the following, but I wondered whether anyone has discerned the evolutionary development of the mind; and indeed whether or not it would be an evolutionary advance for us to "get rid" of some of its functions, if at all possible.

These thoughts (!) came about today as I've been reading about animal realisation and also reading a wonderful piece Ted sent me by Barb Smuts on some of her work with animals. Along with coming in to the body, her writing got me into a really lovely place that felt so natural, so FAMILIAR and one I felt I'd experienced before but, until recently, had lost touch with.

I think for me it's becoming clear that it's the analysing mind that is far, far too overdeveloped - and often unnecessary. And yes, this has over developed due to our mistaken notion that we can think our way around life.

I guess discussions on the mind are as endless as the mind itself...

xx Gill
