Hey all, I need assistance. Last night I got suckered into taking in a tiny baby kitten. He's smaller than a guinea pig--he weighs a pound and a half.

All together now: AWWWW!

I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to keep him. I need to see if he and Kitty can get along okay. I can't find that out until I'm sure Littlecat is healthy and free of fleas. He was covered in fleas when I got him home. I bathed him and picked a bunch off him with tweezers (he hated it so much), but there are still a few lurking on his itty bitty body. I'm taking him to the vet today, spending money I don't have, and getting him checked out. He seems healthy enough, but I want to make sure.

Anyhow, I'll get him checked, keep him quarantined in the bathroom for several days, then introduce him to Kitty for real (they've seen each other, but not had any physical contact). If they get along, I can keep him.

Here's where ya'll come in. I need a better name than "Littlecat" for him. How lame am I to have pets named Kitty and Littlecat? And what if Littlecat gets big?

Is is dumb to name him before I know I can keep him? I'm afraid "Littlecat" will stick as his name, the way "Kitty" has. I couldn't come up with a fitting name for him before "Kitty" stuck.

Name suggestions anyone? I prefer people names. Littlecat is orange and white with blue eyes and big ears. Kitten advice is also appreciated, as I've never had one before.

"Earl" is great, but I have to say that there is something oddly appealing about having two cats named 'Kitty' and 'Littlecat'.

How about "Herbie"? Or maybe, if he can carry it, "Julian"?
He might be too bitsy of a mite to actually hold that name, but it is a good cat name.

"Buster" is also a good name, especially if you are a fan of Buster Keaton. Besides, it's kind of a people name, and definitely something that reminds you of a somewhat hyperactive dog, so giving an itsy lil' kitten the name "Buster" is pretty damn cute, if you ask me.

You CANNOT steal this name, but my next cat will be named "Hazel Pethig". Hazel Pethig was the costumer for Monty Python's Flying Circus, and I've always loved her name. Hopefully my next cat will be female.
