Subject: Just some thoughts I thought I'd share

Instead of writing quick little replies to several previous posts, I'm just going to lump them all together, along with a few other random things that *I* find interesting. You might also find them interesting. If not, no one's making you read this stuff.

1. After reading Chia's 3/18 post, I am terribly homesick for Chicago. It all just reminded me of what it's like to be there, and how I've never quite gotten around to finding myself a cool old apartment in the city. The thing is, I don't really miss Chicago until I get there. Does that make any sense? I think it does. How else could I know what I was missing? The rest of the time, I enjoy living someplace warm. I'm currently missing Arizona, and considering going West. Every time I see a picture of mountains or red rocks I remember what I'm missing there. It's too bad Chicago doesn't have all the wonderful things it has *and* mountains and red rocks and mild winters. :)

2. The other day I was driving around (in the Bugmobile) and I saw Parallel Universe Sam. I only saw him for a minute, as I drove by, but this dude was like Sam, but not quite. He was short and really really skinny with long shaggy reddish hair, full beard, and walking an Irish wolf hound. The dog was standing taller than the guy's waist, at about armrest height, but didn't look quite full grown. It still had a little of that puppy awkwardness to it's gait. I laughed out loud.

3. I just got some really cool bugs in at the zoo--really friggin' huge beetles. I've got good pictures of one, that arrived stuck in it's shipping container. It's a big stag beetle, and it somehow managed to get about a half inch length of it's mandibles jammed into the airholes of the plastic container. The worst part was, it was holding on tight. It took two of us to pry it off. I also have some rhinoceros beetles that are about as big as a baby's head. We've got a bunch of other cool bugs, like orchid mantids, who we're trying to breed (hopefully we can do this without sacrificing our male), and Malaysian leaf insects, that look more like a little green leaf than anything else that isn't a little green leaf.

4. Note to President Chickenshorts, the world is NUCLEAR, nu-klee-ur, NOT nu-ku-lar. How on Earth am I expected to feel anything but shame when the so-called President of my country is not only leading it straight to Hell, but can't even pronounce the words he uses to tell us about it???

That's all for now. Must go work.
