They have always had the people's choice winner. This year, they just announced the five that were in the lead based on the votes they've received to date. Of course, it's a money maker for the organization, but the winner also receives a $600.00 scholarship, so I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing.

If New Berlin is the people's choice, then the 11th contestant with the highest score from the judges will compete again as part of the top 11.
