Sympathy to the family and friends of Laura Janette Golden Hill, age 82, of Texarkana, Texas, who died three days ago on August 24, 2024 at home in Texas.

Laura was born on April 10, 1942 to Jack and Jessie (McKeehan) Golden in Atlanta, Texas. She later took advice of her Wisconsin-native mother to attend UW-Madison where she majored in communications and marketing.

While there in Madison, the 5-foot-tall Laura was named first runner-up to Miss Wisconsin-USA 1962, Sherri Mathson, a year after Laura was third runner-up to Karen Reisweber, Miss Wisconsin-USA 1961.

While never shy to brag about her Texas roots and fondness for yellow roses (of Texas), pretty-blonde Laura would have been a great Miss Wisconsin-USA.
