Firstly, You need to have a "Game shark" to be able to use the cheat codes; it's a hardware, which will be plugged in the back of your play station. Secondly, if you use cheat codes, you will have to start the game from the beginning (you can't use cheat codes for continuing your previously saved games). Thirdly, the game will be much more interesting and attractive if you do NOT use cheat codes.

As to the steel key and those sigils (for the lucked doors in the Keep) you can't find them in your first gamethrough.
