I just thought of this. In Pistol's initial email he alluded to kids "disapearing". I wonder how many kids we have written off because we havent heard of them, but they are doing fine after all and just falling through the cracks or off of the radar just because they arent in the final at NC's. For example, if a 3:56/8:38 high schooler goes to the US and starts running 3:49/8:15, this wont make NC's and won't win alot of meets, but I would say that is a great improvement, but unless you are a nerd like me and read results from every meet in the world, or he gets ranked in athletics or something these performances may go unnoticed. I guess in these days of readily accesible information on the internet it is harder for these performances to go unnoticed. If I didnt know pete and he didnt email me to tell me he ran 14:00, I might not have known until this year when the athletics rankings came out, or if I happended to read the results from Penn. I am always wondering, "what ever happended to Joe who went to _". I usually remedy this by looking for myself to find out, but not everyone is as big of a track geek like me. Just a thought anyway.
