I really don't know much about the proof or facts relating to Jesus' existence.

But I suspect that Jesus did exist, but he was not "God" in any way different from the way you and I are "God" as well. Except that he was one of the "Masters" or highly-evolved beings that walked this earth. I don't think he was born of a "real" virgin or anything like that. I don't think he literally saved us from sin- well, I don't believe in sin to begin with - rather, he merely showed us a way or clues of "higher" living. Even in the bible, there are stories that showed his very human side - which actually makes it easier to relate to him.

Nonetheless, they way people viewed him, I think, is a function of that historical age that they were in. In the past, use of "fear" (ie. God's wrath) was still "in" since their psycho-sociological dev't was at such level.

Now that we are in an "advanced" age, we can modify the way we view things such as the nature of Jesus' and God's identity, so that it serves us in a way that is true to us.
