Subject: Episode 8.22 - "MOMENTS - Season Finale" by Linda_Delurked & Imisstara (Part IV)

Cut to the bluff, where Giles, Spike, and Andrew materialize there. Spike and Andrew are standing, while Giles is lying on the ground, motionless. Kennedy, Xander, and Anya are all already there, looking dazed and confused. They are standing at the edge of the bluff while Buffy, Willow and Dawn are several hundred feet away from them. Faith walks back over to the rest of the group.

Faith: Something real bad’s about to go down here. If we don’t do something soon, it might be a real long while before we get to stay in the real world, even if this place is sort of demolished.

Andrew looks up and sees the giant snake entity, the guardian of eternity, circling the sky.

Andrew: Now *that’s* an hallucination.

Kennedy: I don’t get it…what is that thing? Good or bad?

Faith: I got a feeling it’s good. At least I hope it is, cause I ain’t fighting that.

The snake straightens its form in the air and a white beam of energy falls down on Buffy, Willow and Dawn. Right as the beam hits them, they all join hands. A rush of energy fills their bodies, and their eyes turn bright white, almost bursting with energy. Spike tries to run towards them, but finds he is unable to move forward. The great force of power is keeping him back.

Spike: Damn barriers! If it’s not one, it’s another.

Kennedy: (marvelling at the three) They’re so powerful…

Proserpexa: No…no this isn’t fair! This isn’t supposed to be how it happens!

A giant beam of light explodes from the three girls and hits the mirror Proserpexa is holding. She screams in pain as the mirror fills with energy. She tries to let go, but she cannot, the energy is holding her there.

Xander: (softly) Almost there guys….

Light continues to fill the mirror, growing brighter and brighter with each passing second.

Prosperpexa: I can’t…can’t let you….

The mirror finally shatters, exploding into thousands of tiny pieces and filling the air. At the same time, the watch on Giles’ wrist shatters, and Proserpexa’s temple explodes in a controlled blast. Buffy, Willow, and Dawn all fall to the ground, completely exhausted. The energy around them immediately disappears, and Proserpexa falls to her knees, defeated.

The snake moves in the sky, swooping down closer to land and showing off its huge and brilliant form. Its mouth starts to expand, opening wide.

Spike: Buffy!

Spike tries to run towards them, but the remnants of the energy still hold them back.

Kennedy: They better be okay…

Faith: Of course they are. This is B you’re talking about.

Xander: They did it, they destroyed the mirror. It’s all over…

Anya: Let’s not forget, there still is the matter of the very angry and powerful Hell goddess to be taken care of.

The snake continues to fly low, its enormous mouth fully open. Tight close up of Proserpexa’s face, as she looks up into the sky. There’s a moment of extreme fear when she realizes what’s about to happen.

The snake swoops down towards the ground, and swallows Proserpexa whole.

Anya: Oh well…that took care of that.

The snake flies back into the sky and forms its usually twisted position. One last blinding flash of light occurs, and when the Scoobies are able to see again, the snake is gone.

Buffy, Willow and Dawn, slowly and shakily get up from the ground. Spike reaches his hand out cautiously, seeing if the magic has finally left the air.

Buffy: (calling out to the others) I think its okay to come, guys. No scary snakes or invisible barriers.

The two groups run towards each other, meeting clumsily somewhere in the middle.

Xander: You guys did it! Not that I ever doubted you or anything, but still!

Andrew: And did you see that giant snake thing eat Proserpexa? So cool!

Kennedy: Yeah, that was pretty kick-ass.

Anya: And effective.

Andrew looks back and sees Giles lying on the ground.

Andrew: Oh no…Giles…is he?

Xander goes over and bends down, feeling Giles’ pulse.

Xander: He’s….he’s alive…He’s alive! I can feel a pulse.

Andrew: Yay! No one died! Eat that, Proserpexa!

Dawn: I guess the snake thing kept its word after all. Even if it was totally creepy…

Willow: Yeah, time changed just enough to allow Giles to live.

Anya: He needs medical attention. We should get him to a hospital…probably one out of town, away from all the death.

Some Scoobies start to tend to Giles, while the rest stand around, taking in what has happened.

Faith: (to Spike) So, that was one wild life the two of us had back in that upside down world. Pretty fun, if you ask me.

Spike: Later luv, I promise.

Spike walks past Faith and heads to Buffy.

Faith: No big, I’ll just sit here on the side lines while B gets all the glory.

Andrew: I’m still here for you!

Faith: Maybe jail isn’t so bad after all.

Cut to Spike and Buffy.

Spike: You still pack one hell of a punch, Slayer.

Buffy: And I got to see you all noble-like.

Spike: I’m not going to be able to live that down, am I?

Buffy: Nope! (laughs) So you and Faith, huh? I’m surprised you’re still here in one piece.

Spike: (shrugs) Killing the boredom, that’s all. It was either that or babysitting a bunch of sodding snakes all day. Rebelling was much more fun…as was that kiss you gave me earlier. That was more entertaining than a whole night of sweaty…

Buffy: Okay, sentence stopping right there. I was just…bringing you back to our reality, that’s all.

Spike: I need time destroyed more often, then. Where is that bloody mirror?

Buffy: I’m gonna take a guess and say you’re not going to drop this anytime soon.

Spike: (smiles) Wouldn’t be much fun if I did.

Cut to Kennedy, who walks up to Willow and hugs her.

Kennedy: I never doubted you…not even for a second.

Willow: Thank you....

However, Willow’s face seems a lot more hesitant, as if she is wary to embrace Kennedy.

Dawn: Don’t I get any loving?

Anya: Yes! Let’s all go praise Dawn now. Yes, good key! Good!

Buffy: Xander, how’s Giles?

Xander: His pulse is weak, but he’s hanging on. We gotta get him out of here soon, though.

Buffy walks over to the edge of the bluff and the whole group follows. Below them is the town of Sunnydale, totally destroyed from the earthquake.

Dawn: It’s all gone…we still couldn’t stop this.

Willow: No, but we saved time itself in the process.

Buffy: Yeah, we did, didn’t we? Never done that before…

Anya: There’s much to be done now. It will be a long while before I’ll be able to sell goods in the town again.

Faith: Can someone shut this girl up? I don’t know about you but I just wanna sleep for a week, yo! Hey…have I said that before?

Dawn: Oh, who cares? My new goal in life is forget about the past and focus on the future.

Xander: Second that.

Willow: Just look at all that’s happened. The Hellmouth is destroyed, and its baddest hell goddess is in a snake’s stomach right about now. You don’t have to stay here anymore, Buffy. You can do whatever you want.

Buffy looks down at the town. Buildings are either destroyed or on fire, and people are running and screaming for their lives as the aftermath of the earthquake finally sets in.
Buffy closes her eyes for a moment, then quickly snaps back into leader mode.

Buffy: I’m not going anywhere. Xander, Anya, get Giles to a hospital. Kennedy, Dawn, Andrew and Willow, take the East side of town. Spike, Faith and I will start on the West. We have work to do.

The group pauses for a second, taking a moment to fully take in the situation, before going their separate ways.

Dawn: That was a really short victory celebration. Some cake would have been nice, maybe cool festive hats…

Andrew: Yay for empowered Scooby hats!

Kennedy: I guess saving the world just isn’t what it used to be….

Dawn: At least you didn’t have to deal with a really nasty hell goddess wanting to cut you up so she could bring Hell on Earth. Now that was tough.

Andrew: Or how about Dark Phoenix Willow? She almost… (looks at Willow) Oh, sorry..

The Scoobies’ voices trail off. The shot extends as we see the group making their way down the bluff, all ready to do their job.
