Night falls on the darkened tomb,
Strangers watch, with a deep sense of gloom,
As the soldier is laid to rest.
Gold gleams, on his young chest,
His country, he did serve,
The triple cross, he did deserve.
Though just nineteen, he gave his life.
To a country, overcome with strife.
Though pale his face is now,
Some may wonder how,
Such a bright, cheerful boy,
Who brought his parents such joy,
Could be laid to rest, in such a place?
Night fell, and he was sent to grace.
