Since leaves change colors or fall of the branches during this time Shakespeare's dictation fits perfectly. Time and season could be viewed in many ways in this sonnet. One is that he was possibly changing like the seasons.Another could be that some one was leaving him. This is conveyed in the line "bare ruined chirs where the late sweet birds sang". Since the birds have left it is possible that he was using this to show that someone important to him has left.
