1. Shakespere's word choice conveys the season by using figurative language. He talks of the colors of the leaves and how they are just barely hanging, as they do in autumn. He then goes on to describe the nights and how it becomes dark quickly; which is another characteristic of Autumn. He uses the art of imagery to paint the picture he wants to descirbe in the readers mind.

2. Time and season are important in the sonnet because he is using a metaphor to describe someones life. The sonnet is basically about someone holding on or about to die. The darkness of night, right after sunset, is symbolically death. The sunset is like the persons last breath or when they are just holding on by a thread to life. As is the same with the leaves barely holding onto the branches. They are showing this person is just holding onto life by a tiny sliver.
