How many miles have you put on the XII? Most that have not driven one have to get used to the shifting. You will be able to shift it without a sound and so smooth that a passenger can not tell you shifted. It just takes practice. and you will get the feel of it. Only problem with the the XII shifting is to make sure that your clutch is operating correctly. No slop up & down on the clutch lever, check for wear on the lever pivot bushing and bolt. and check the fluid in your resovior (new & clean & clear) and make sure the slave cylinder is functioning properly , may need cleaning out, may be gunked up. Always shift at a high rev of about 4 to 5 thousand rpm's, quick & sure blip throttle just a hair to relieve pressure on gear. practic practice!!! , all MC are different.. Do not put in neutral at a stop sign and forget and then panic slam it in 1st gear it will damage trans and make for poor mateing of gears.. You will say you are shifting correctly but you are not . not being critical just have seen it so many times of 25yrs of owning one & over 400M miles on them, unless you have a major tranny problem YOU can shift it like butter. patients & practice!! Ride safe..
