you are correct Doug, my local radiator expert told me of a automotive spray on product. ( i will remember the name eventually) He said you pour it in the radiator (after you take it off and plug the bottom hole or top hole whichever works for you. let it foam a bit and then rinse it out. I took it to him after i did this to have him verify i got the right stuff. and he even scoped it( small camera on a thing flex tug to look inside) for me and said it was clean and in good shape. However here is the slap to the head part ( my head) the previous owner had put a chrome piece of metal on the front of the radiator. I had no idea it was not stock. Seems it was blocking about 1/3 of the radiators flow thru it. (yes damn is one of the things I said) I took it off and of course Murphy had to help and the little wire pig tail on the radiator fan sensor (bottom front of the radiator) had to break off too. tried to put a tiny screw into the wire encased in the plastic but not good enough to get the fan to come on. So new one is on order. But took the machine out anyway and yes it is amazing how much cooler it runs now without the chrome thingie blocking the air flow. So getting to know your machine and what is added prior to your buying it vs what is stock and how the two work together is important here.
Yes it heats up when your doing stop and go driving without the fan but out on the road it is nice and cool (which it wasn't doing that before) So us old dogs can learn new tricks. Just takes longer and maybe a 2X4 to get our attention
Don
