You probably need to clean & bleed the clutch system including the clutch slave cylinder in the same area as the water pump directly above it on left, follow hyd hose right above frame in front of shift lever. This XII being that it sat so long needs ALL fluids changed and compoents inspected for crud!!! Brake fluids, shock oil, clutch fluid, coolant, Fuel, Carbs should be drained, Check battery if not new. Then drive it and see what it needs from there. Slipage could be from a number of things, Make sure you clean & lube clutch lever & piston on clutch lever. Add some SEAFOAM to fuel and to engine oil to help clean fuel system & engine clutch plates. If still slips you may need to go into clutch and check springs & plates. Let us know what develops and we will try to help.. Good luck..
