Subject: MOTM isn't based on a player's performances over 2 seasons. It's based on one game, which is why it's called 'Man of the MATCH', not 'Man of the SEASON' or 'Man of the TWO-SEASON-PERIOD'

  • He's obviously brimming with confidence, scoring for both club and country and probably feeling pretty exhilarated just to be out there feeling something like the player he was five years ago. There was a period where he reached these levels, briefly, last season - I think Arsenal at home may have been a similar performance to yesterday and I remember thinking/saying then, wow this guy might even be an upgrade on Mitro.
