.:. His eyes widened in shock as the dagger slowed on its course for his heart. Her attack was coming from above, the weapon suspended somewhere above his frame, waiting to plunge down and through his collarbone. His breath shook out of his chest as he released all trapped oxygen. She’d spoken back, hasn’t she? He hadn’t imagined it…he was almost certain. But with the voices of everyone still echoing around in his head, it was hard to tell. He locked eyes on her and for a moment saw a flash of her childhood. But the piece was to short and he could learn nothing for it. It was involuntary that he saw it, he hadn’t tried. Her life was hers and he didn’t want to meddle. Maybe that was Bri’s way of trying to make Zeth leap into her past and find the clues he needed to beat her. But he didn’t want to pry. He was almost certain that her past was similar to his. To similar for comfort.:.

.:. But his eyes locked on the darkened figure of the female. Her body seemed black and white in the gray world around them. The lights were fading around him, or dimming so it seemed. But he could still see her face clearly enough. He could see her lips form the words that she shot at him like silver bullets from a gun. “I just wanted…wanted something I couldn’t have…” and that’s all he could say. Hopefully, in this darkness, she couldn’t see the tear brimming in his eyes. With the tear meant his denial of life. His failure to defend. The end. .:.
