不要吃氫化植物油
牛油會增加體內的膽固醇,對血管和心臟有不良的影響。新發明的人造黃油(margarine),是以氫氣加進植物油使此凝固,希望可以代替牛油使用。怎知,後來發現氫化植物油含有「反式脂肪」(trans fat),不僅同樣會增加體內的膽固醇,而且會減少體內好的膽固醇,對身體加倍有害。但這氫化植物油已變得很方便,在很多的加工食物已是普遍地應用。要商家不再用,是不容易的事情。
普遍含有「反式脂肪」的加工食物有:植物牛油、糖果和朱古力條、蛋糕、麵包、餅乾、薯片、曲奇餅、非乳製奶精、肉醬粉、糕餅粉、冰凍炸薯條、炸魚片,以及幾乎所有的市面出售的油炸食物、意式薄餅、人造奶油、油炸圈餅 、爆玉米花、花生醬等等。
聖誕送禮怎辦?有什麼更健康的食物可送?可考慮有機燕麥和葡萄乾、新鮮生果等。要用點心思和時間考慮,但這是值得的。盡量不要送不健康的食物給神父吃吧!可能有些加工食物是沒有加進「反式脂肪」,要看清楚標籤。如果標籤說明內容是很少,這些加工食物大多都會有「反式脂肪」。要留意的,是標籤說明內容,是否有partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (部分氫化植物油)或trans fat (反式脂肪)。如果有,就不要購買。
