So far it's been one of the busiest years ever as far as orca and whale spotting up here-five new babies added to the population. We're increasingly out on the water in a variety of craft and boards...even camping last weekend, two orcas started chasing seals a stones' throw from the campsite we were staying at. So I expect to see more of these kind of stories to come. I don't think there are any credible stories of orca incidents outside of those idiot marine parks but I hope orcas continue to visit us, just wish don't confuse divers or boarders for for a seal, eh??

Up near Bella Coola - right at the harbor, actually - when I was on the old Queen, what most agreed was a blue whale surfaced right near the ship. I would not want to be in a kayak near one of those when it was around, let alone an orca. Even if a blue whale is a baleen whale.
