from deep withint he shadows two emerald orbs glittered, never straying from their query. just what lay beyond those intence eyes few knew, and even fewer wanted to know. the only movement was the animal blinking, breaking it's eye contact with whom it was watching.
completelly ovlivious toit's stalker, a girl of her teens sat in the noonday sun, her back reclined against the trunk of a large maple. in her lap lay a softly cooing babe, gazing up at it's mother with innocent blue eyes. the girl's brown hair hung over one shoulder, sheilding her face from the glare of the sun on the lake's surface. her once rosy cheaks were now stained with her own salty waters. mournful blue eyes gaze down at hte babe in her lap, all manner of things rushing through her mind.
the eyes that had never strayed from the girl and her charge bling once, then again. the animal stands and turns away fromthe site before it. with a practised stealth, the animla slinks through the timbre to the lake. with a barely audible splash, the beast submerges it'self in the shallow waters. speckled shadows fall upon it's evony hide, finally giving shape to which hte shadows had once before hidden
Despite her remorse, the girl's head snaps upright, breaking her reverie. untrusting orbs scan the surronding tundra, searching for hte cause of sound that had caught her attention. she remains still a moment longer, waiting for other sounds to alert her to possible danger. once more, seh scans her surrondings. finding nothing suspesious, she returns her eyes to ehr babe. soft murmerings excape from sweet sounding vocals, seeking to calm the now fussing child. with a heartfelt sigh she lifts the hem of her tattered shirt to expose one milk-tight breast. the girl closes her eyes with something akin to relieve and shame mingled together. tilting her head back, the young mother sighs with resignation. T'was just my luck. the words muttered gave a sence of doom, the girl's own sence of what was to come.
without a sound,t he ebony beast rose and silnelty started through the water toward the gilr and babe. nearing his queary, the animal stepped quietly to the shore, sheilded from view by a stand of pines. over head, the warning cry of a Goshawk. the black beast pauses midstride, sending a leathel look skyward. the only sign of his aggitation. without another sound, the animal pregresses toward the girla nd her bairn.
the babe still nestled to her breast, the teen opens her eyes to look down at the child clutching helplessly to her. with an illsuffered sigh, she sifhts. seeking to ease hte pain between her shuolders. out of hte corner of her eye she catches the movement of something, perhaps a bird? or a leaf falling to the ground? fear skitters up her spine as she directs her gaze to the shore of the lake. what greeeted her tired eyes was a welcome site. one work exscapes her partched lips. the black feline halts as his name is spoken, then moves forth again, his long stride quickly carrying him to the girl.
she pulls her babe from her breast and stands to greet te sleek panther. You've faired far better than i old friend the oversized cat nudges her stomach with his head gently. a deep rumble excaping from within his soot blackened chest. emerald orbs gaze up into the blue of his friend's before falling upon the bundle held against her chest. not a sound permeats from within, but hte girl understood all the same. Tye's own blood her voice choked with tears, she answers the question unspoken by the panther. a slight, barely disinguished nod is given by the animal. the girl turna and starts down a dirt path, heading toward the main joining area. her eyes glistening with unshed tears. the child in her arms lay queitly, somehow sencing it's mother was near hysterics her head high, the young mother walks forward to face her new life, determined not to let anything, or anyone get in her way. if she could only have one success in life, she wanted that success to be her infant daughter's life.
watching the girl alk away from him with a stiff back, Arjon grumbled softly. it was his duty to protect her. it had been his master's last wish, so with a resigned sigh, Arjon stole silently after hte girl. why Tye had gotten her with child in the first place was a mystery to him.
Together, the girl, her babe, and the big panther steal into the joining area silently, all with a determined glint in their eyes. Ready? The girl wispers down to the cat. The cat looks up at her and purrs soflty..
