I am happy to see some familiar names, and to be honest miss the interactions I had here.... despite some of the hostility I encountered. There was also a lot of back and forth "exchange of opinions" which was a lot of fun, as well as a check for me about reevaluating my opinions, and finding new views. Where am I today??? I was suspended from the State of IL aftermy 2nd offense and my unwillingness to go thru another probationary period. My decision was based 100% on the fact that IL does not have a program that "hides" activity, so was faced with the "transparency" of confessing to future employers my past, and knowing in my heart that the idea of any potential access to drugs would be a constant mind buzz,,,, decided to leave nursing. After a handful of jobs in customer service, with pay from $11-14/ hr and in very unforgiving environments I out of the blue found a job very close to home ( still customer service) with a Swiss based company that sells chemicals for coatings and adhesives. I make $50K plus $12K bonus / yr, will have 3 weeks vacation after 3 yrs, plus 10 days PTO for sick and personal time, plus 12 holidays / yr. hours are 8-4:30 and it I am late, or want to take 45 minutes for lunch its OK!!! Health wise, I was diagnosed with stage 3b anal cancer and stage 2 papillary Thyroid cancer in 2012 Had radiataion and chemo for the anal cancer, and thyroidectomy and RAI for the thyroid cancer. 2 years post .... anal cancer is still in remission, have a repeat neck US for new lymph node growth end of October. Overall.... I am 57 years old, and through out my cancer treatments dealt with my addiction issues well. I have been honest with my past, and have had problems with getting pain relief,,,, but have lived thru these frustrations based on asshole uneducated MD's with a bad opinion about addition.... such is life.... full of idiots!!! That will NEVER change.... I think I have disclossed enough. I have included my email and would love to hear from all of you. XOXOX .....
