The patch you describe is the 435th BS of the 19th BG. They were formed in Townsville, Australia, (hence the kangaroo emblem) and flew armed reconnaissance missions in the SW Pacific (hence the spyglass and bomb). Later in the war they re-equipped with B-29s and after a period Stateside were transferred to Kadena, Okinawa - although they were deployed too late in the war to carry out operations against Japan.
