1). what does the statement "Gholas. He's welcome to them." mean exactly. Is it just an excuse for letting them escape?

A. It just means that he personally sees no uses for gholas. I don't think there is anything to be read into this statement, other then snobbery.

2). page 429 in chapterhouse Murbella thinks about duncan that "he thinks he's escaped." what do you think that this means. Does it mean that they will make another ghola duncan, and perhaps see what happens when two same gholas are reawakened at the same time perhaps?

A. It has a dual meaning.
#1 - escaped sexual enslavement to Murbella, although separate from her he will still crave her. It's the addiction.
#2 - escaped from enslavement by the BG's, which you're right they'll just make another Ghola.

As for the second part of that statement, there probably have been numerous incidents of two duncans being awakened at the same time. I'm sure that while supplying Leto II with gholas the tleilaxu had backups ready to ship, and to experiment with themselves.

3). page 154 in chapterhouse Lucilla asserts that Dama is not human. Does this apply only to Dama or to all Honored Matres. Why didn't Dar notice this when she met Dama later on then?

A. You're misinterpreting the statement not human. This goes back to the very beginning of DUNE with the Gom Jabar test of Paul. To see if he was indeed human.

What Lucilla is referring to is the way all Honored Matres use sex to enslave men and the populace. Using sex in this way the BG see the HM's as no more then animals. They are not human in that sense.

4). pages 72-82 in heretics of dune has the first and only meeting with honored matres and waff. here we see the new Face Dancers which took over the identities of honored matres. What happened to them in chapterhouse. Did they just totally become honored matres and every1 forgot about them?

A. I remember the incident you mention, but I'm not sure what if anything happens to the face dancers. I think that assuming they weren't discovered they most likely went the way of Face Dancer Priest Tuek and forgot they were even face dancers. It's likely they just are not relevant to the plot anymore.

5). on page 80 waff says that the honored matres are blind to these new Face Dancers. Then he ends by and I quote " Would the Benne Gesserit be as blind to the new gholas?" so the new Face Dancers are gholas then?

A. I have no answer for this.

Jay
