Look how he favoured Feyd, and others in well shape, I believe that Like the Baron, Frank wanted us to believe that his body came from the baron's excess'.

But I think had he lived to write the prequels, or guide Brian in doing so, he would have also revealed that Mohiam made the Baron the man we knew him as, with disease.

I just think the Story of Dune required us as an audience to believe certain "facts" with the truth to be explained to us later.

Frank just like most people, forgot his own mortality, and never considered that he wouldn't be around to tell the tales himself.
