i worked at a book store, and my manager whom I repected very much, read the prequels before he read the original Dune. This guy read a lot of books because it was his job to keep up with it.

Guess what? He loved the prequels and didn't like the orignials as much. He thought the writing style in the prequels was much crisper and easier to hook into.

Those books haven't done really really well, Ravenzim, because the writing is sub-par. It is damn good fiction. I don't care about the Dune name, those books would not received the critical acclaim they did had it not been for the fact that they were good.
