I'm not sure I see exactly how that would work, but I won't say it's impossible. I guess I'd be more inclined to accept such a hypothesis if the planet had at least five or ten moons for more complex gravitational patterns.

It definitely doesn't seem like it would be a stable orbit, so over time it would probably shift to a different arrangement. I still think they are probably trapped in each other's Trojan gravity wells, but I say draw the picture how ever the hell you feel like.

Hey, maybe Dune was originally in, like, another universe or something when it became infested with sand trout, and was subsequently moved to its present location. Yeah, that sounds kind of cool, but that's even more unlikely than anything said so far; oh well.
