The only thing I slightly disagree about is when Paul is in the desert that he was selfish. at that point his vision wasn't fully formed. H described time as like being on the wave, sometimes he would be at the peak of the crest seeing it stretch out before him, other's at the bottom, unable to see things.

He knew that being with the Fremen was a start toward the Jihad, but anything else would lead to his death and his mother's death. While that might be selfish I would say it was more like arrogance in that he thought he could change what he saw somehow. he thought he could avoid it even if he took the first steps, but he was wrong. like Oedipus, everything he did, just furthered his own prophecy.

So I would maybe say arrogant, but definitely, as you said, trapped by his vision.
