First, in response, I'd make the Dune 7 at LEAST a trilogy. Like ya say, there's a thousand things that could be done,and if Frank Herbert had lived another 30 years, he might well decide to keep the series going with another trilogy.
Maybe wrap up the storyline in Dune 7 then have another trilogy set in a far future- thousands after Chapterhouse.
In Chapterhouse, Odrade considers making her faithful driver a cyborg. There's a shortage of "specialists" and Clairby was alwyas her favorite.
"Cyborg Him." she says. In the description, it says:The Butlerian Jihad had left its indelible mark on humans. Fought and won....for then. And here was another battle in that long-ago conflict.
This clearly shows that frank had intentions of at least bringing back the Butlerian Jihad issues in a future story. whether it's the key part of Dune 7 remains to be seen.
