Leto Took OVER the program from the BG..

He then continued the Breeding of the Atreides in a controlled environment where HE was in charge.

Taking those Magnificant genes and then playing with them. For what ?? 3500 years??

Only stands to reason that they would still reign supreme

Plus he controlled the spice for the same time period, everyone else Had to play catch up.

Once he died, there is still no spice until the worms return, so no one can EVER get a leg up on his 3500+ jump start.
