Seems to me that the group that escaped to a new universe may be the part of humanity that survives- which is directly fulfilling Leto's Golden Path...
If more than ten years has passed by, we should at least have a ghola or two to ground the reader, gholas that have Duncan's and Miles and maybe even Dar's and Scytale's memories?
