Reality Check: Why UC won't go to the Final Four.......DONALD LITTLE

Geez, I wish I were wrong. I wish I could be positive. I wish I felt better about our team. I'm not trying to be negative....I call it being REALISTIC.

Reasons why we could go to the Final Four?
Steve Logan.
Field Williams continues to improve and if he stays hot, good things will happen.
Defense, defense, and more defense.
Coach Huggins.
Jason Maxiell.

Reasons why we won't go to the Final Four?
Donald Little - South Florida and ECU (second half) totally have dominated Donald. Look for Cam Stephens to do the same. The interior post defense has slipped tremendously and should be a major concern for Huggs and Co. Our post scoring and rebounding has slipped alot, too.

We cannot compete with a Boozer or Dunleavy if we were to get that far....and there are plenty of other teams with good big men that will make us look bad, IF WE LET THEM.

In a nutshell. I don't question Logan and Stokes and Field Williams. I do question Donald Little, Jamal Davis, and Jason Maxiell (who was noticeably absent from the boxscore against ECU). If these guys don't step it up, we may lose in the second round.

I'm telling you right now and here. These three unlikely guys are what our season depends upon. Do you feel good about that?

The scores are getting closer because teams are starting to dominate us inside. Interior defense, rebounding, and a lack of inside scoring are all why we are playing 5 to 10 point games as opposed to 20 to 30 point games. And geez, I know we won by 27, but it should have been no less than 40. If we could score inside we wouldn't resort to shooting 27 3 pointers.

Remember how our rebounding was so surprisingly good early in the season and conference play? Well, the rebounding has slipped. So has the defense.
