Of course, I'm right here at this board with you because I also hated the changes, but it really isn't surprising that this is all about ad revenue. It's no secret that Ivillage has been struggling for years to make this profitable. Although they the number one web destination for women, I believe profitability is still an issue for them.

It's great that we've all found a new place to post for free, but I-village is a business with shareholders (ticker: IVIL, exchange: NASDAQ)to keep happy. It's great that some people are willing to provide a place to post for free, but we cannot expect a for profit corporation to do so.

That said, it sounds like the changes were made to drive ad revenue and to create a some sort of a community that they had delusions about. I'm sure if people start fleeing as we did because they dislike the new communities, that will get the attention of the advertisers...because their business model seems to be driven by advertising.

On the other hand, they could have created many more branding and sponsorship opportunities for their advertisers without destroying the community they had already built.

Anyway, I hope I didn't offend anyone, because I agree that the new boards are less than desirable. But, I thought it was worth noting that we shouldn't be upset that they want to make money...they have that right as a for profit corporation. Unfortunately, as they were chasing the dollar, they lost sight of what's important--the CUSTOMER (US!)

Kim
