Task 14 – How we can test communicative competence

As we know, communicative competence is about the successuful language use and the commnucative language tests, second Kathleen and Kenji, are intended to be a measure of how the tests are able to use language in real life situations. The two linguistas believe in the functionality of the expressions linguistics, therefore, there aren’t corrects expressions and wrongs expressions. A foreing language teacher have to consider the pratical argument. The profissional must observer if the student is able of interaction in a context proposed. To apply the communicative competence test the theacher can use differents activies. With speaking, writing and listening. In a activie, for exemple, the students can talk about futebol, relationships, classes or family, for exemple. Letters and depoimentos can be elaborated by the leaners and differents opinions about behavior. Second Kathleen and Kenji, few tests are completely communicative; many tests have some element of communicativeness. For example, a test in which testees listen to an utterance on a tape and then choose from among three choices the most appropriate response is more communicative than one in which the testees answer a question about the meaning of the utterance. However, it is less communicative than one in which the testees are face- to-face with the interlocutor (rather than listening to a tape) and are required to produce an appropriate response.
