My daughter had her transplant surgery on Nov 28! The surgery went great and she is now home! Her kidney function level before surgery was between 6% and 7% and her creatinine level was 7.8, which is deadly. Post surgery her function is now at 80+% and creatinine is .9! Her donor is a friend of hers and she is doing great a well. Now we're looking at about 3 months of recovery before going back to work and up to a year for being able to do everyday things.

My wife and I have been Married for thirty four years and when I got hurt , and had a traumatic shock nervous breakdown . For desert . As I'm said many times going back into my Childhood , and remembered the fun I had with the first guys that I collected , MPC's ring-hand Troopers . Over the years I drifted away from left , I STILL have an MPC Jeep , and one of the ring-hand trooper .
I never really thought about them all that much until I got hurt due to a roll-over accident with a back-hoe that I was loading . She came off backwards , and twisted in mid-air . I was on her the whole time . Till I wasn't I landed on my right shoulder , and exploded my right rotary cuff .
Enter Work-mans Com , who the course of treating managed to destroy Rotary #2 , TWO years to get an MRI , and a total of three years to get operated on and get a settlement . I've got 35% use of one shoulder , and 85% use of the other one . I got lucky, I LIVED , the stats on people surviving rollovers are not good .
THAT'S when I got into the Joes , and later the SSAMS , I got handed some of the little Joes by a Bro of mine at a local Flea Market . Then back in '95 some folks opened a Collectible Shop two Miles from my House , I walked in and saw that there was also BIG Joes , and I was well and truly hooked . That was twenty eight years ago , I was forty-five now I'm seventy-three and being sick for that long opened my eyes to a lot of things .
One of which is that my stuff needs to find new Homes , cuz they ain't gonna let me be buried with it . If !!! Anybody is interested in any of my stuff I'll knock a 100.00 USD off my asking price .

Returning for today is our old friend Zman with another of his cool little mini-dio setups. This time, two Vietnam era Navy SEALs spring an ambush on a VC as he paddles down the river bank. Zman has totally faded and weathered their uniforms and set up a nice jungle river bank diorama to put them on, complete with the muddy water of the river. We ended our Combat Mission in Viet Nam , and I'm not going to talk politics , or second guess the experts as to who won . Because nobody won ............ On both sides North , and South the total dead added up to 3 million dead , of all causes . According to one source there are over 275,000 MIA'S , from both NVA , and VC forces
We lost over 58,000 G I JOES , and JANES , officially there are approximately 1,200 Troops still missing within VIET NAM . Un-offically there may be another 5,000 , sounds like a high number I admit , but not when you take into account that that number is scattered over most of SE Asia from Laos , to Cambodia , North Viet Nam, and maybe even South China .
I say " unofficially " because from I've read those guys were " spooks " CIA etc. and supposedly no one to this very day has come forward say to where they were . Because for the most part they weren't supposed to be there . PERIOD .
Sanctioned Missions or not MIA is still MIA , those folks never made it Home . That's what matters and that is ALL that matters . I'm NOT an Expert by any means , and as I've said many, MANY times I am NOT a Vet . I just believe that those G I JOES , and JANES who died over there , as well as the MIA's , SHOULD BE REMEMBERED and HONOURED for their sacrifice . AND NEVER EVER BE FORGOTTEN .
Why do I care so much ????? Because if it wasn't for a high draft number MY name could have wound up on that WALL in D.C. I turned 18 in 1968 , one month after TET and was 1-A , later on they came up with the DRAFT LOTTERY , and I got a high draft number . That's what saved me , a lot of people weren't that lucky , and their names ARE up on that WALL that's why I'm closing out this post out with THERE BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD GO I .

Another one of those topics you wouldn't think would show up in a 1/6th photo shoot, but as you might have guessed, Hogie does a brilliant job with art imitating life. Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. Sorry for the long delay, but two surgeries kept me out of commission for the past month and a couple weeks. Everything is good to go now though, so let's get right to the first shoot of the new year.
Returning for today is our old friend Zman with another of his cool and unique projects. This time some vintage US Coast Guard rescuing a sailor in the open sea. Not sure what period this is from, I know the Coast Guard has been around since the 1700s, but I don't know exactly what era Zman is depicting here. Since they're still using rowboats, I would say this is pretty early Coast Guard stuff here. Of course, Zman does another great job on his diorama. How he used the cellophane to make the water is pretty darn cool. And of course, he's got a great hand-painted back drop as well. Sharp stuff from our old friend, without a doubt. Like it says on the Header this post is in three parts : Part #1 is that EVERY day is Veterans Day . This Country of ours has lost somewhere over a million G I JOES and Janes since the the Revolutionary War , and setting aside one day a year is great . But always keep in mind that they bought , and paid for our Freedom with their lives . They deserve to be remembered for more than one day a year . I also read today that the Veterans suicide rate is the highest it's ever been . As is Veteran homelessness . I wish that I had some answers but I don't . I'm a not a Vet , but that doesn't stop me from giving a damn about them .
Part #2 I started collecting 1\6 scale Military stuff over 27 years ago , and I've no one to leave it to , so I need to find it a Home . This is a rough list , and if anyone is interested I'll try to get some pics of the stuff , and a more comprehensive list in the next couple of days .
Five NAM Era Troopers , fully equipped , plus a bag of VC , and NVA gear .
A five man Fire Team , FULLY EQUIPPED , from back packs to boots , radios , uniforms are 21st CT woodland camo , the guys are a mix of G I Joes , and Peacekeepers .
A bag of Nam era boonie hats , and butt packs .
A bag of WW II boots , all types
A 21st CT 1\18th scale Huey Chopper , complete with all parts , including the Pilot .
A mixed bag of Civilian camping gear .
And a bag of assorted WW II weapons .
Plus a whole bunch of other stuff . I have no idea what this stuff is worth , bear with me until I get some pics of this stuff and we'll go on from there .
Part #3 is in Memory of my Great Uncle William , who joined the French war effort as a Medic \ Stretcher Bearer and served with them until 1917 when we joined the fight . He then joined the US Army and served with them until the war ended in 1918 . On November 11th .
Unfortunately NO one had told the Germans that the the War was over , and they kept shelling Allied positions . One of their artillery spotters was hit , and my Great Uncle William , and his partner .
Who had served with him since 1914 , went out to get him . They were bracketed by German Artillery fire , and all three of them were killed . On November 14th 1918 , three days after the war ended . It's been over a hundred years since his death , but he will forever be my Hero .

Dang!.... Just learned that JazzInc delayed the delivery date on my 1/6 '66 Batmobile until December. I was all jacked about getting it this month too. Ah well, I've waited this long ... I guess a little longer won't kill me. :) LOL
In the meantime I just finished another 1/6 project that some of you guys here might get a kick out of. I was hoping to get it done sooner so I could get some shots of it outside before my lawn turned brown (since it need a green jungle backdrop). However I think it is turning brown pretty fast out there. Even if I have to do some non-fancy indoor shots of it in my livingroom or something though, I'll get some shots of it for you guys. It will defintiely need a good outdoor location reshoot when it gets warm again though. So keep an eye out for that in the near future.
Oh and Hogie sent in some new stuff. I'll try and get some of that up for you this weekend.
No other shoots coming in though guys so my apologies for such a long wait inbetween site updates.

Looks like more of Delta Force Chung's (RIP) collection went up for auction. And another opportunity to go down memory lane. ( Again, I'm not affiliated with these auctions/sales, they aren't mine)
OK, I don't really see anyone paying 300 shipped for any of these ( the 175 core price, probably tax, and then shipping, etc, etc) But I'm pretty sure I will never see these MIMB/NIB ever again.
I bought that SWAT black Humvee for 40 dollars back in 1999 or so. So over two decades ago. Now it's not a true 1/6th scale. You can kind of fit three figures into it. IIRC, there is a peg mount for a M2 50 caliber in the top turret. My guess is they just wanted to make one simple mold to transfer to all sets. I remember taking a M2 from a Willy's jeep ( God, that was such a great set, so heavy too) and pegging it on my SWAT vehicle.
What's kind of interesting in that last few years, the 1/12 scale has exploded in popularity. And to be honest, these vehicles might be more of a better fit for that sized figure, with a little work. I never got the M1025, but remember it went on clearance at some point at TRU. The Schwimmer, I believe I got one in a trade from ZMan over a decade ago.
Hobby was so fun. Miss those times. Simpler times.
What's interesting is while I have doubts many 1/6th collectors will pull the trigger on those vehicles, I can see some general WW2 or vehicle type collectors seeing the novelty in it one day. I have always found 1/6th vehicles changed hands the most at shows or during face to face trades or sales. Given the massive cost increases in shipping, I'm pretty sure that alone will prohibit much movement in 1/6th vehicles. And yet, everyone I know with a decent stable of vehicles at some point wanted them all gone, for space reasons.
Years ago, Dewback Matt gave me his custom Blackhawk. I held onto it for six months or so, then I gave it back to him. LOL. It was huge, the size of a twin bed. Matt was so talented. I hope he is well.
I guess the sobering question comes up. What happens when you die, I mean your collection. Something I've considered is I never wanted to burden anyone with a mess on the way out. And most 1/6th collectors I know have way more than they need, but less of what they wanted.

Something I find interesting about TUS is even after 20+ years, there are still items that were made decades ago that are still mostly inaccessible to the average collector.
For example, the basic SKS rifle is still quite rare. The carded VC set back in the old days was 14.99 plus tax at Toys R Us ( Anyone remember going on trips to the toy store and not knowing what you'd find? Like a treasure hunt...)
Since that time, VTS Toys made a version for George Miller's Fury Road and TB League made a version, but both were kind of rare and expensive to get loose. There wasn't really enough of a demand for Vietnam era figures to have companies keep supporting the lines.
For widespread availability and cost, the old TUS SKS rifle still stands up today. I can say the same for the Street Sweeper shotguns from the Villains Shotgun set, I think only one other brand made a Street Sweeper ( It just didn't fit into the basic military figure sets that most people see and are released)
The 44 caliber AutoMag pistol from Auz and Taz is another rare find that no one else made.
That was the beauty of Ultimate Soldier. You always had a chance to find something no one else would make or odds are there would be a low chance of anyone else making it, and for price/access/availability, you might have a good chance to find it. Certain current 3D Printing capability has changed that part of the game somewhat, but it's nice to know that some of the pieces from sets we loved, still hold high value and relevance even today.
I personally would have loved to see what TUS would have done with the never released Villains Machine Gun Set. Maybe we would have gotten Russian or German or other foreign modern machine guns that no one else would create or the odds were too low for you to have a chance to get one at a good price.
I also would have loved that basic modern tent that was unreleased. And I know if TUS had survived longer, we might have gotten a drone set. An explosives/demolitions/EOD set like C4, etc, etc. Things that are mind numbingly hard to find even today.
I'm sure this topic has been covered before, but as time goes on, it becomes more clear on what we won't likely get in the current 1/6th releases in terms of cool and interesting bits and weapons.
What would all of you have wanted the most on that unreleased list?

So some of his stuff was put up for auction. There's an old TUS VC Main Force carded set, in good condition, in there, and I haven't seen one of those in years. They were even hard to find on the shelf at Toys R Us locations back in the old days. There's the Villain's Shotgun Set and even a Modern Foreign Weapon Set #3 ( which was the one with the pistols) that was also hard to find on shelves.

It seems just like yesterday that I was making runs to Toys R Us to find deals on 21st century finds. That was over 20 years ago! Over the past 20-15 years my collection was boxed in totes and in the attic. I met a girl, got married, worked a Sheriff patrol job and retired about 3 years ago. I now have a 6 year old and 4 year old, both boys. Yeah I got a late start, I’m 54, but it is great being able to be there for them every day. My 6 year old has spent the last two years peeking in the attic and asking to play with the vast array of vehicles and figures visible. We tried a Barbie pt cruiser and Power team figure resulting a broken door so, uh No. sorry bud your too small. But he is six now and I made the decision to bring the crews back out. Wow the old memories began flooding back. Both boys were in hog heaven driving their own Stuart around. I was like a mother goose hanging over them. These are fragile boys, be gentle, DON’T force ANYTHING!. I’m a nervous wreck but the look on their faces is priceless. Other toys are cool, excavators, hot wheels, monster trucks, Tonkas, But there is something special about 1/6th scale figures. Its magical. I am working with them on a more GI Joe adventure team plot than WW2 shoot em up. We explored the living room and captured a rare crocodile and built a zoo pen for it. They were enthralled. They have played for hours with the figures and vehicles. Im happy to say that a new generation is excited as I was to interact with my action figures. They are even interested in doing photo stories. They were totally into some of the old 12 inch figure stories on you tube. I’m taking them back through some of the old photo stories I posted here way back when. Thank you GL for keeping this site going all these years. Sharp Salute.

Ok troops, my apologies again for such a long wait, but time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. So let's not waste anymore time at all and get right to it!
Returning for today is our old friend Hogie309 with the next installment from his Marwencol series. This one is entitled "Sarah's Hat". If you remember from past episodes, Sarah is the British police officer who is visiting Marwencol and got captured by a gang of baddies and then was later rescused. Well, it seems she lost her hat in the process, and that is where this episode begins... sort of. It looks like things are going to get strange in Marwencol again. I don't really want to give any more of the photo shoot away here, so I'll leave it at that. But I will say once again, another terrific batch of photos from our old friend with some great looking figures. You won't want to miss it! Special thanks to Hogie309 for sending this cool new shoot in and sharing it with us.

Ok troops, time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. So let's not waste anymore time and get right to it!
Up for today, our friend and fellow trooper, D.B. Croker, is back with another one of his cool photographs. Actually there are three photos in this set but they are all the same photo. It's entitled "Pre-Patriotic War Portraits" and he took a shot of a couple of his WWII era Russian soldiers and the first photo is framed out like an old black & white photograph, the second is the centered black & white photo, and the last photo is the color photograph that the previous photos were made from - so you get to see his guys in color. They're looking pretty darn sharp too. So be sure to check this one out if you've got a minute. Real nice stuff again from DB. Ok troops, finally time for another cool site update from our fellow men in the field. Again, my sincerest apologies for the very long delay, but these past couple months have been pretty crazy in the 1/1 world. Anyway, I finally found the time to set up another photo shoot and post it, so let's get right to it then!
Returning for today is our old friend Hogie309 with another one of his cool Marwencol photo shoots. This one is a continuation of his current story about his British visitor and her abduction by villanous types. This one is a bit more "R" rated than we're used to seeing, though, so I would suggest keeping this away from any young ones. I bought a few Ultimate Soldiers used, also new in boxes. I like the joints; they are much better than my old GI Joes. But, I am unsure about sturdiness, seeing wrists and assuming ankles are entirely plastic. Worried that attempt to remove boots might damage ankles.
Anyway, I really do not know where to start!
Is 21st Century Toys still in business?
Also bought 1 Dragon figure. Joints appear to have same features.

My Wife , and I were talking about all the things that we have to be Thankful for , and on my list of things to Thankful for are GL , and this MB . So SHARP SALUTE to you Sir !!!! I might not of posted anything in a very long time but I stop by on a regular basis to see what's going on . Hogie's mastery of Dioramas , figure posing , etc. just keeps getting better , and better . And a lot of the other Troops aren't that far behind him .
I've been reworking a lot of my old stuff , and coming up with new uses for old parts . I completely redid my tractor trailer rig , and my trailer is now over four feet long . I'm going to post some pics as soon as I can of it , and of the figures that I've redone .
Some of the other things that I'm Thankful for is living in this country of ours , she's not perfect , but she's helluva lot better than a lot of countries out there . My Wife , who's been my Rock through some damn hard time , my late Mother , who never gave up on me . And you guys .
I got into this Hobby of ours by accident literally , after a rollover accident with a backhoe left me hanging for a total of eight months recovery and two years before that waiting for proper medical treatment . It was a work related injury and work-mans comp wouldn't authorize the MRI,s and other treatment that I needed . If it wasn't for coming across the Joes and later the SAM's I would have no joke lost my mind .
I'm also Thankful , and grateful that our 1:1 G I Joes , and Janes have always been there for us . Always remember that EVERY day is Veterans Day , not just November 11th .
Speaking of that date My Families only for real War Hero was KIA three days after the Armistice was signed . He had been in France from 1914 onward first with the RED CROSS , and then he joined the US ARMY when we got involved . He was a Combat Medic who was killed by a German shell barrage along with his buddy , and the German Soldier that they were taking to an AID STATION . He bought his " Farm " three days after the Armistice was signed . He was KIA on November the 14th , 1918 .
There's an old Indian saying that as long as somebody remembers your name you never truly die . So this SHARP SALUTE is for you Great Uncle William . May you always be remembered for your courage , and for making the ultimate sacrifice .

I hit another birthday, and realize I have way too much stuff in my life... including parts and pieces of 1/6th paraphernalia, that I will never use. I could toss it all away, but before I do, I thought I would see if people here could use it. I choose here, because this is where I was when I started collecting all these things, and I also know the quality of people here, and that most of us are more excited to have something fun to play with, than to just collect the latest, hottest, must have toy.
I'm not able to list and post pictures of everything... I tried that earlier this year, and it about drove me nuts. And, doing that attracts the kind of people I don't want to trade with, or deal with... the "Is that a Hot Toys Exclusive, AR-15, or the Dragon Mega Pack AR-15?"... I don't know, it's a toy gun that looks like an AR 15. You want it, or not?
What I propose, that might be fun... I'll mention some things I have, and if you can use them, you can have them. All I ask is two things: You pay for shipping (paypal, or gift certificates to one of three hobby stores or send cash), and that you swear, on your Hall of Honor, that you will use the items, and not turn around and sell them again for profit (Yup, that happened earlier this year too. Things I practically gave away to a "fellow collector" I see on Facebook within a day of the package arriving at his house... from him.)
Also, you can post some general want list items, and I'll see if I have them. OR maybe someone else does... who knows. I have nothing expensive or hot, but I do have figures, uniforms, parts and pieces, and tons of extra things that I collected to potentially make dioramas out of. Honestly, I'd rather it go to a good home and be used, than spend another 10 years sitting in a box in my closet.
For instance, somewhere I collected to tent quarters. Maybe Cotswold. Maybe home-made. Not sure. Green cloth, and not perfectly scale (which is what leads me to believe it was modeled on old Hasbro stuff or home made). I am never ever going to use these... but maybe you have some dowel rods, and want to make a bivouac or something. Need some camo netting for your tank? Got some. Need some sniper camo (from BBI sniper)? Got it. Need some figures? Got em.
Mostly, what I want is to get some things gone... and not spend hours looking through parts bins for "do you have the Luger from the Dragon Ivan figure?"... Yes, I have a Luger. Who the heck knows where it comes from. You want a luger? I got it. You want THAT Luger? No.
Of course, if you live near Central Florida, you could arrange to pick stuff up, and save shipping... cause I have a Willy's Jeep that I don't need, and the top of the Reichstag in resin that I want gone, and a Remote Controlled Stuart (I think I still have that), and some other big stuff.
What do you think? Could this work? Could we all post some ideas, things we are still looking for, things we would take a risk to pay for shipping, and hope to get some fun toys?

Up for today is our old friend Buzz, returning from far too long of a hiatis around here, with a few shots of his 21st Century Toys M5 light tank and crew. Buzz has cut the skirts off the sides and added a few accessories to the top, like crates and netting, and all three crewmen are Ultimate soldiers. In the last photo, he did a little tribute to Hogie's town of Marwencol and IrishSEAL13's town of Le'Morge by recreating one of the directional signs. Great stuff from Buzz here, so be sure to check these photos out! It's good to see our old friend Buzz back in action again around here. Looking forward to seeing more stuff from him in the future. Returning for today is our old friend Zman once again, with another of his cool and unique projects. This time, a 19th Century Western Town Doctor. As always, another great looking figure from our old friend and a terrific diorama filled with all those cool little details he manages to put together for these. Miniature medical tools, medicines, even a little anatomy book with photos. Of course, a couple cowboys to work on as patients as well. So definitely don't miss this one. Back with another one of his cool and unique photo shoots is our old friend Zman. This is another diorama of those "Worst jobs of the Victorian Era"... Toshers. It seems like these guys went down into the sewer and mucked through the garbage looking for valuables. Once again, some outstanding diorama work here from Zman, and great looking figures too.
