You were in the same glade, but now it was full daylight. The trees seeme to be encased in ice, but there was no coold, and they beat together like windchimes as a breeze blew past. Suddenly, you heard a bird caroling, and look to see it is a magpie. He is siting on a swaying branch, next to a raven, who doesn't call. The magpie pauses before he begins singing again. The raven looks at you sceptically. "He says 'A little ahead there is a ditch.' He says 'follow it, untill it becomes full of water.' Then he wants you to swim up-creek." The raven says. To your left, another bird begins to sing. This one is a nightingale, and he rests next to a sparrow. The sparrow begins to talk. "He says that the ditch runs through a petrified forest, and that true forest starts again shortly after the water does. He warns you not to set foot on the forrest ground, to stay in the river untill you reach it's spring, even if you have to swim up waterfalls."
You are startled by a sudden faning of taill in front of you, and the mimic of a gunshot. The Lyrebird gives you a quisical look, and speaks using your own voice. "The forest is very protective. It kills those that trespass clumsilly. Birds do not sing there." The Lyrebird then imitates the buzzing of an alarm clock perfectly, although where he heard this you cannot fathom as you are dragged suddenly from your sleep.
