You won't believe it, but I too lived in the Breukelen Housing Project at 107-13 Flatlands Ave. I went to PS 115, graduated in '51, then Tilden HS '51-'55. I left Canarsie when I went into Nursing School - Methodist Hospital School of Nursing - 6th St. and 7th Ave. in the Bayridge area. My first marriage was in '97 or '98 and then I lived in Queens for a while. I have one sister June, who lived with me and my mother in the project. She's 3 yrs. younger than I am. My memories of living there weren't that great due to a super disruptive childhood. I do have memories of my friends there though. In fact, I'm in touch with several from PS 115! Amazing isn't it? I do remember the Canarsie Pier and Charlie the ice cream man too. Those were good memories.

Where on LI do you live? I have 3 friends from PS 115 living there. Do you happen to remember the Kall family? They lived on Remsen Ave. Vera Kall and I were long-term friends. How I wish I could contact her. I've never been back to Canarsie, but understand from those who have that it's changed drastically, and not for the better. I'd like to see it once more though. Is the project still there? I'm now living in North Carolina....a long way from Canarsie.

If you want to, you can reach me best at this address:avbtrfly@charter.net and we'll share some more memories. I seldom check this site. Till next time.....take care,
Gale

Hi There, I just wanted to say hello because I think I remember you. Your a little older then me. I actually went to school John Wilson with your brother Richard. Hi Richard. I lived in BayView Houses but hung out in your projects with everyone, such as Charles Mills who my sister Holly Tyson used to date who also went to John Wilsn and Canarsie High. You bought a smile to my face when I was reading your msg and the innocence of childhood. We can truly consider ourselves Blessed. My entire family moved to Maryland about 13 yrs ago. Ask your brother Richard if he remembers me. Wow....So many years ago. Thanks for the memories of Happier days when all had to worry about was doing the chores before being able to play outside. My Warmest Regards Dawm Tyson
