I've only watched maybe 2 seasons of The Amazing Race (what can I say, it was winning awards and praise), but this really is a fantasy spin on the exact concept.

They really ought to be paying some sort of licensing fee.

I liked Fillion (didn't really notice the hairwear), but I very much got the feeling that his character is barely there, that he's keeping options open until someone decides who this guy is. He obviously has a backstory (or should have), but that's not the same as having a distinct personality.
